Mary May

MARY is a teaching chef, food coach and Ayurveda instructor.  Mary's experience informs her knowledge that feeding our bodies well, nurturing our spirits and keeping a positive and reflective mind helps each individual to reach her or his full potential.
My Story
I empower people to feed their bodies well. This may sound simple but modern living can make it complex. I help individuals, families and communities eliminate confusion and fear around food. As we explore together, I bring in the pleasure and ease of creating and sharing nourishing, delicious food.

I do this in 3 ways:
  • As a Teaching Chef - I guide participants to create easy, tasty dishes with confidence. I emphasize the best and healthiest ingredients and integrate Ayurvedic tips. i.e. eating the rainbow, seasonal awareness. Classes are spontaneous, non-formulaic, and full of information and recipes to take home.
  • As a Food Coach - In conversation, we decide what areas the individual wants to explore and improve. It becomes any combination of the following: how to navigate the grocery store, how to read labels and stock the pantry, buying organic while maximizing your dollars, efficiently using limited time, how to simplify kitchenware, cookware and gadgets, how to reset a challenging relationship with food. In addition, I teach desired cooking techniques and Ayurvedic principles as the relate to the individual.
  • As an Ayurveda Instructor - With this 5,000 year-old "science of life," I guide individuals to discover their mind/body constitution (or dosha) and how to work with it by applying time-proven principles. We discuss everything from sleep habits to six tastes of food to why coriander, mint and fennel have cooling properties. Awareness of the mind/body connection helps each person maintain a healthy life balance and become the best version of her or himself.

Cooking Right - Seasonal Tip
As temps drop we need warmer, heavier meals. Make Butternut Squash Soup or Chicken Chili for an easy, healthy meal. See recipes.
